Roads
The Romans built roads to connect land to Western Europe and Africa. These roads were constructed well and some are still in use today!

How were the roads built?
They dug a roadbed and put sand in it. A layer of flat stone slabs in cement were next. Concrete and crushed stones were poured over this layer. Finally, flat paving stones were laid close together.
