The four major groups of human pathogens are bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protists.

Bacteria are living things made up of just one cell.

Diseases caused by bacteria include step throat and food poisoning

Viruses are tiny particles that are much smaller then bacteria.

Diseases caused by viruses include colds and flu.

Fungi are living things such as molds.

Diseases caused by fungi include athlete's foot and ringworm.

Protists are certain living things made up of one or more cells.

One disease caused by protists is malaria.
