Consonant blends are two or three consonants put together that come before or after a vowel in a word.
E.g 'st' and 'fr'
What is a consonant blend?

In consonant blends, the sound of each individual letter can be heard.
E.g You can hear the 's' and 't' in the 'st' blend.

There are 27 consonant blends at the beginning of a word and 49 at the end of a word. Only 3 blends occur at the beginning and end of a word.

Consonant blends at the beginning of words can include: bl, br, cl, cr, fl, gl, gr, pl, pr, sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tr and tw.
