Introducing Change: Fractions to Decimals

The 3 will stay and the 0.5 will be

The changed value is 3 $\frac{1}{2}$  

Divide the numerator by the denominator of a fraction to change it to a decimal value

When converting a fraction to a decimal, there can be a value that is not a terminating value or one that shows repeating values

 $\frac{11}{15}$  is an example of a value that shows a repeating answer.

Look at the picture on the right to see a better example of a repeating decimal.

When this happens, you need  round to the repeating number and to put a bar over the repeating value
