What is it?

A hydraulic system ​is a compression device that makes

use of external force placed upon a fluid,

create a resulting force.

It follows Pascal's Law and invented by ​Joseph Bramah.

Pascal's Law

According to Pascal's law, any force applied to a confined fluid (liquid and gas) is transmitted uniformly in all directions throughout the fluid regardless of the shape of the container.

Hydraulic principle explained

According to Pascal's Law, as you apply a force (F1) to the piston of an area (A1), the pressure (P) in the confined fluid remains unchanged. This causes a force (F2) to the another piston of an area (A2).
