Meet the Candidates
There are two primary candidates competing for the presidency of the United States. The republican candidate is Donald Trump and the democratic candidate is Joe Biden.

The Counting Continues in Swing States
Swing States are also called Battleground States like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona
Swing states could be won by either candidate whether they are a democrat or a republican

How Does the United States Election Work?
Americans go to polling centers to cast their vote for president every four years. The votes are counted and classified as the popular vote and the electoral vote.

Popular Vote vs. Electoral Vote
The popular vote is the total number of votes cast by the citizens.
Electoral votes are votes cast by the electors of each state to determine who becomes the President of the United States (these electors are chosen by the popular vote).
The number of electoral votes varies by state. (see map)
