What is neutralization?

The word neutralize means to cancel out.

For example, if you "neutralize" a situation, it means you calm everyone down and "cancel out" the problem.

A neutralization reaction is a reaction where an acid and base react to form water and salt. It turns the solution neutral, so the pH will be 7!

Using an indicator can tell us the pH of a substance and/or whether or not it's an acid or base.

A universal indicator is a solution we add to an acid/base to help us determine the pH. When you add it, the solution changes color and then you compare it to a chart like the one above.
