Dominant and Recessive

Genotype: A two letter code that represents the passing of genes from parent to offspring.

Allele: An allele is represented by each of the letters. There are two alleles per Genotype.

Genotypes are written just like you write your name: The capital letter(s) always come first.

There are three different kinds of Genotypes: Homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive, and heterozygous.

When writing a genotype, you use the same letter for each allele (the difference lies within whether it is dominant or recessive).
