  • Not only does Echo express concern that she does not understand what it means to be Métis, but she also struggles to connect with her mom.

  • This part of the text also reveals that Echo is living in a foster home

  • This change has a big impact on Echo, and when you read today, notice how Echo and her mom interact during their visit

• Bias is when someone has a preference or inclination toward something that influences the way they think or act

• If a source is biased, that means it might not be providing you with the most accurate information

• Sometimes, bias is difficult to detect, so it is important to think about where your information is coming from and how that source might be imbalanced.

Information imbalance

Look for these clues to determine if a text is biased:

• author's purpose

• absolute language

• loaded words

• one-sided argument

• lacking evidence

Clues to detect a biased text

• When you are researching, it is important to take notes as you go

• To complete the notes, download the PSA Project Notes from page 4 of your edio lesson to take notes for your PSA project

• Today, you will be finding 1 CREDIBLE source and completing the notes for Source 1 in the PSA Project notes document

• In upcoming classes we will find our other 2 sources and fill in the notes for them
