A polyhedron is a closed three-dimensional figure made up of flat polygonal regions.
A face of a polyhedron is a flat surface on the polyhedron
An edge of a polyhedron is a line segment where the faces of the polyhedron intersect.
The vertex of a polyhedron is the intersection of three edges of the polyhedron.
The bases of a prism or cylinder are the two parallel congruent faces of the solid.
The base of a pyramid or cone is the face of the solid opposite the vertex of the solid.
4
A polyhedron is a 3D figure that is formed by polygons.
Examples of polyhedrons include a cube, prism, or pyramid. Non-polyhedrons are cones, spheres, and cylinders because they have sides that are not polygons.
5
Prisms are 3 dimensional figures that have polygons for bases that are parallel and congruent
Prisms
6
A pyramid is a geometric figure that has a polygon base with sides that come to a point 1 base
Triangular faces
Names come from the bases
Example: The square pyramid has one square base
Pyramid
7
A prism is a polyhedron with two congruent bases and the lateral sides are rectangles.
A pyramid is a polyhedron with one base and all the lateral sides meet at a common vertex.
Note: All prisms and pyramids are named by their bases.

A net is an unfolded, flat representation of the sides of a 3D shape.
Note: There are several different nets of any polyhedron.
11
Nets are the unfolded version of a 3d figure.
A net shows you all the different faces and base(s)
We can use nets to help us calculate surface area
