SCENE 1: RURAL AREA STUDENT WITH NO INTERNET ACCESS

In a rural village, a group of Senior High School students at a local public school faces problems with their education. They are excited to learn but don’t have a reliable internet connection. This makes it hard for them to do research, use online materials, or join virtual classes. Since online learning became more common during the pandemic, not having good internet has made it harder for them to keep up with students in cities.

Question: How can educators and policymakers ensure that students in rural areas, who lack reliable internet access, receive equal opportunities for academic engagement and success in an increasingly digital learning environment?

SCENE 2 : URBAN STUDENTS WITH UNSTABLE CONNECTIVITY

In a Tagum City, a group of college students faces problems even though they have internet access. Although they live in an area with more technology, their internet is often unstable. This becomes a big problem when they need to join online classes, finish assignments, or use learning materials. The connection keeps cutting off, making it hard for them to focus and learn properly. Even though they have the resources, the weak internet makes it difficult to keep up with their studies.

Question: How can schools and communities in urban areas help students who experience unstable internet connectivity to stay engaged in their studies and avoid falling behind?

SCENE 3 : STUDENTS SHARING LIMITED INTERNET RESOURCES

In a neighborhood, a group of Senior High School students share one internet connection at home. Their family can only afford one device or one mobile data plan for the internet. Because of this, the students have to take turns using the internet for their online classes, research, and homework. This limited access often makes them frustrated because they can’t always connect at the same time. Sometimes, they miss lessons or fall behind in their assignments while waiting for their turn. This makes it hard for them to keep up with their schoolwork.

Question: How can schools and communities help students who have to share limited internet resources, ensuring they can participate in online learning without falling behind?

SCENE 4 : STUDENTS RELYING ON PUBLIC WI-FI AND LEARNING CENTERS

The students in Mabini National High School uses public Wi-Fi and local learning centers to access the internet for their studies. Since they don’t have good internet at home, they go to cafes, libraries, or community centers to do their homework and attend online classes. However, the public Wi-Fi is often slow and not very reliable, and the learning centers can be crowded, making it hard to focus. Because of this, the students have trouble keeping up with their schoolwork.

Question: What steps can be taken to improve access to reliable internet and quiet study spaces for students who depend on public Wi-Fi and learning centers for their education?
