CKLA-Treasure Island Chapter 7

He doesn't cry.

Jim let's Hands die on deck.

Jim speaks confidently, telling Hands he will now take over the ship and be his captain.

He kills Israel Hands.

Jim did not like looking at the Jolly Roger and he loved kings.

Jim was trying to give himself courage.

“God save the king” is a victory cheer meant to intimidate Hands.

Jim takes down the Jolly Roger to show the pirates no longer control the ship.

Hands is not a nice guy.

The other pirate on the ship comes back from the dead and tells him.

Jim reads a note Hands has written.

Jim spied on Hands and saw him grab a dagger and hide it in his shirt.

Hands can’t decide what to do.

Hands tries to trick Jim into thinking he will surrender, so he can surprise Jim by throwing the dagger when he is least expecting it.

Hands is too injured to fight, so he decided to give up.

Hands expects another pirate to rescue him.

Because of the mutiny planned and executed by Silver and his

dishonest ways, nobody is willing to help Silver with anything.

Because they wanted him to die.

Because they were busy with other things.

Because they did not want to touch him because he was dirty.
