WRITING PRACTICE 1
A Letter to a Friend: Layout

Layout of an informal letter
You received the letter from your English-speaking friend Jane who writes:
.... My home town is rather small but I like it. The people here are very friendly. They keep our town clean and beautiful. And does the life in a big city give you a great enjoyment? Why? What amenities are there in your city? How do you spend spare time there?
Well, it's time for me to take my sister from her music class...

Write back to Jane. In your letter answer her questions and ask 3 questions about her relationship with her sister. Write 100-140 words.

address, date

Dear Jane,
Thanks a lot for your letter. It's always nice to hear from you again.
I'm glad the town you live in is so nice. As for me, I enjoy living in Moscow, as it is the place where my family and friends live. There are a lot of sport clubs, shopping centres and theaters in Moscow. So we've got a wide choice of different pastimes. Usually I choose between a swimming pool and a walk in the park in my spare time.
You are lucky to have a sister. Are you getting on well with her? Does she share her secrets with you? How much time do you spwnd with her?
I've got to go now. I'm having my piano lesson in an hour. Hope to hear from you soon.
Love,
Dasha
