Today, you will begin reading a story called Archie Strikes Gold.

Take a closer look at the front cover of the book.

Think about the following questions:

• What is the title of the book?

• Who is the author?

• Who is the illustrator?

• What can you learn from the picture?

Today, you are going to read “Chapter 1: A Dangerous Path” from pages 6 to 16.

As you read, think about the following questions:

• What did Archie and his group bring with them when they set out on their adventure?

• Would you choose any of the same items to bring on your adventure?
