Tourist

A tourist is a person who travels to popular destinations most often for pleasure and relaxation. They may travel alone, with family, or with a large group of people.

A traveler is a person who travels to a destination to learn, explore, and discover the world. Many people travel solo so they have the liberty of doing whatever they want.

However, both tourists and travelers are people who travel to destinations, and there is not a big distinction between the two.

​Attractions play one of the biggest roles in tourism. It is most often the primary purpose of travel. An attraction is anything that motivates and draws a tourist to a destination.

Refers to how a tourist can get to the destination. Can be air, road, railway, or sea.

Activities that a tourist can do at the destination. Sometimes an activity can also be considered an attraction that motivates people to travel.

Activities

Tourism cannot exist without the element of accommodation. When people travel, they need a place to stay during the night.

Accommodation

The cost involved in traveling to a destination, staying there, and enjoying the activities there.

International Tourism

Involves traveling within your own country.
The traveler does not cross any international borders and does not set foot inside a foreign country.

Adventure Tourism

Visiting destinations where an environmental disaster has occurred. Ex.-Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc..

Disaster Tourism

Visiting places or sites that are associated with tragic events in history. Ex. those affected by war, concentration camps, prisons, etc..

Visiting religious sites and indulging in religious practices or activities. Pilgrimage- a journey taken to sacred places with a religious motive. Ex.-shrines, temples, mosques, churches, pilgrimage sites

Traveling in search of gaining knowledge or learning a new language. Learn about history and new cultures. Ex. language immersion, cultural exchange, volunteering
