• Bow: Front of the ship. Bulbous Bow: A protruding part that helps with the ship's hydrodynamics. 

•  Stern: Back of the ship. 

•  Port Side: Left side of the ship (looking towards the bow), associated with red light at night. 

•  Starboard Side: Right side of the ship (looking towards the bow), associated with green light at night. 

•  Hull: The main body of the ship, including: Freeboard (Part above the water) and Draft (Part below the water).

• Superstructure: The part of the ship above the main deck, including the Accommodation (Crew living quarters). 

• Forecastle (Fo'c'sle): A raised part on the foredeck at the bow. 

• Decks 

     - Main Deck: The longest deck on the ship. 

     - After Deck: Located near the stern. 

     - Tween Deck: Inside the hold for storing cargo. 

     - Lower Hold: Lower part of the hold for cargo. 

     - Deckhead: The ceiling on the ship.  

• Hatch: An opening in the deck. 

    - Hatch Cover: Protects the hatch from water. 

    - Hatch Coaming: Vertical part of the hatch to
prevent water entry and secure covers. 

• Hold 

    - Area for storing cargo. 

    - In tankers, holds are tanks for liquid cargo. 

• Tanks 

    - Deep Tanks/Bottom Tanks: For ballast water,
fresh water, or non-toxic liquids. 

    - Topside Tanks: Located on the top side of the hold. 

    - Wing Tanks: Located at the lower part of the hold. 

    - Tank Tops: The top of the ship’s bottom tanks or
deep tanks.
