Once upon a time in the vibrant fields of La Mancha, Don Quixote, the noble knight, rode
forth in search of grand adventures. His loyal squire, Sancho Panza, trotted alongside
him, often shaking his head at his master’s wild ideas. One day, they heard rumors about
a beautiful princess named Micomicona who needed rescuing from a terrible giant.
Excited by the chance to prove his bravery, Don Quixote declared, “We must save her!”
Unbeknownst to Don Quixote, Princess Micomicona was actually a clever peasant girl
named Dorotea, who had grown tired of her everyday life. She decided to trick the knight
into helping her by pretending to be in distress. Dressed in a lovely gown and a
makeshift crown, she welcomed Don Quixote and Sancho with a tearful plea for help.
“Oh, brave knight! The giant has taken my kingdom!” she cried, playing her role
perfectly.
Don Quixote, filled with noble determination, vowed to defeat the giant. Dorotea led him
to a hill where she pointed to some large rocks, claiming they were the giant’s lair. With a
fierce shout, Don Quixote charged at the boulders, swinging his sword with all his might.
As he struck the rocks, they tumbled down with a loud crash, and Dorotea gasped
dramatically, pretending to fear the giant’s wrath.
Finally, Dorotea revealed her true identity and laughed, “I’m not a princess in trouble! I
just wanted to have some fun!” At first, Don Quixote was surprised, but soon he joined in
her laughter. “You have bested me, clever lady!” he admitted, realizing that even a knight
could be tricked. Together, they returned to the village, where Don Quixote proudly told
the story of his adventure, bringing joy and laughter to everyone. In that moment, he
learned that heroism sometimes comes in unexpected forms.
