Electricity and magnet working together
Solenoid
Circuits do not always have their own power source like a battery.
Check in with the different circuits we already know.
3
Generators- a device that produces electricity
Changing mechanical energy into Kinetic energy
Made of 3 parts
Turbine- the part that spins (kinetic energy)
Solenoids- generate the magnetic energy
Conductive wire- carries the electrical energy
Generators Edio page 3 video
As the turbines spin, they pass near the solenoid electromagnets on either side.
The interaction of the magnetic poles produces an electric current.
The conductive wire allows the electricity to travel to a load, such as the engine of a car, or another circuit, such as the wiring in your home.

3 Minutes Breakout room:
Create a perfect town that uses energy.
How does your town get energy? Check out below for options:
wind turbines
gasoline-powered generators
nuclear generators
water powered generators
6
Powered through small fires that cause air pressure to turn turbine
Powers moving things
Gasoline Powered
Water moves the turbine to generate electricity
Power nearby cities
Water Powered
Water's atoms are split and the steam released turns the turbine
Power whole cities
Nuclear Powered
7
Match
Match the generators with their turbine.
Gasoline Powered Generator
Water-Powered Generators
