Lesson Plan: Comparisons in English
Target Structure: rather than / more than / enough / adjective + -er
Level: Pre-Intermediate to Intermediate
Age Group: Young Adults
Duration: 60 minutes

"I'd rather live in the city than stay in the countryside."

1. RATHER THAN (preference between actions) → I'd rather + VERB (base form) + than + VERB (base form)
"I'd rather study online than attend lectures."
"She'd rather work part-time than be unemployed."

We investigate more/less than we study the Ocean

2. MORE / LESS THAN → VERB + MORE / LESS + THAN
We can learn more/less than most people realize

Space investigations isn´t useful enough to justify the cost.

3. USE AN INFINITIVE AFTER AN ADJECTIVE + ENOUGH

It is less important to fix problems than (it is ) to fix the current ones.

4. Use LESS with non-count nouns.
There is less information about Ocean exploration than Space exploration.
Use FEWER with count.
There are fewer benefits of space exploration

Talk to your classmates and identify the different comparative structures of the sentences given.
