Then we will learn all about text structures.

Intro to Text Structures

In the next slide, you will be asked to DESCRIBE something in writing. Use details! Responses will not be shared.
You can describe your family, your favorite show, your favorite sport, favorite celebrity, etc. You will have 90 seconds to respond.

First Question: Describe

​For example: Describing my family
My family is fairly average. My parents work and like the outdoors, so we go camping or do things in nature a lot. I have a senior dog, Bristol, who is still active but is definitely getting old.

In the next slide, you will be asked to make a timeline about your typical day. Use "first," "second," "then," "after that," etc.

Second Question: Chronological Order

​For example: A typical day in my life Timeline
First, I wake up with my alarm and begin the day with quiet time; reading and meditation. Then, I take my dog on a walk for about 15-20 minutes. After that, I get ready for school. I shower, grab some caffeine and food, then drive to school. Once I am at school, I get my school materials ready and start the school day.

In the next slide, you will write about a Problem and its Solution. This problem/solution could be made up or it could be something from real life; from your own experience or something you have learned about.

Third Question: Problem/Solution

​For example: You could use the "Bionic Superhuman" article. There were a few problems (disabled people, fairness in sports). How did bionic parts help?

​Another Example: Problem/Solution (made up, kind of true)
Missy had misplaced her car keys, but she didn't notice until she was trying to leave work. Stressed, she looked all over her job, and some coworkers joined in the search. They searched the breakroom, the office, the bathroom... Finally, her manager found Missy's car keys in the parking lot, near her car.
