Here, you need a verb to continue describing the actions taken "sailed..." is the first verb, look carefully at the tense of this verb to decide the second one.

Pat cycled to the shopping centre to buy a bat BECAUSE HE/SHE wanted to play table tennis.

Pat wanted to play table tennis.

He cycled to the shopping centre to buy a bat.

This answer describes an action in the past, that took place in a restaurant. What can you do in a restaurant? Read carefully the time of the day. Think!

Pat wanted to play table tennis SO he cycled to the shopping centre to buy a bat.

In the next exercise you need to fill in the sentences with to, because, while or so.

example: Holly and I decided to go to the mountains ... we were playing video games.
