Word Work

Background Information

• ​Written by Emma Lazarus in 1883

• Without social media, the internet, television, or movies, people turned to newspapers, magazines, and books for information and entertainment.

• Poetry also played a significant role and was widely read and shared among the public.

A literary adaptation is when people change a work of literature into another form of text or another medium, such as a movie, a television series, or even a video game.
