What Is Not Noticed 🕶

In the context of emerging media, this inequality is called digital divide where some people benefit from information and communication technology (ICT) while others do not.

There are three aspects of digital divide which are all characterized by the lack of the following: (1) access, (2) inclusivity, and (3) control.

Lack of access to ICT

​Not everyone can afford a stable Internet connection plus devices like phones, laptops, and tablets.

Lack of inclusivity in content availability

There are marginalized audiences whose needs are not met by mainstream media.

Lack of control over one's online identity

Some people get notorious or famous in ways that they do not expect.
