​Important Note:

In Japanese, the numbers 4, 7, and 9 have multiple pronunciations:

• 4: "shi" or "yon"

• 7: "shichi" or "nana"

• 9: "ku" or "kyuu"

When telling time: .... o'clock → 〇〇じ (.... ji)

• 4 o'clock: "yo ji" (よじ)

• 7 o'clock: "shichi ji" (しちじ)

• 9 o'clock: "ku ji" (くじ)

Use "yo," "shichi," and "ku" for telling time.

To ask "What time is it now?", you can say:
いま なん じ です か　Ima nan ji desu ka?

​ いま 〇〇 じ です
ima .... ji desu
It is .... o'clock now

Today's Verb

• です　　　Desu：is/am/are (to be)

• たべます　Tabemasu： to eat

• ねます　　Nemasu : to sleep

• おきます　Okimasu：to wake up

​Important Note:
In Japanese, the verb typically comes at the end of the sentence. This structure is called Subject-Object-Verb (SOV).

Example: I eat rice → Watashi wa gohan wo tabemasu.

Today's Particles

Japanese particles are small words that show how other words in a sentence relate to each other. They are very important because they help us understand who is doing what, where, when and how.

Today's particle:

• に ni : time marker, location/direction marker

• か ka : question marker

​Example :

いち じ に　ichi ji ni : At 1 o'clock
に じ に　ni ji ni : At 2 o'clock

​Example :

いきます か　ikimasu ka : Are you going?
 ねます か　nemasu ka : Do you sleep?
(Noun) です か　　(noun) desu ka : Are you / Is it / Am I ... ?

​Example:
はちじに おきますか
hachi ji ni okimasu ka?
Do you ｗake up at 8 o'clock ?

Let's create sentences in Japanese

​I sleep at ..... o'clock
〇〇じにねます
.... ji ni nemasu

​I wake up at ..... o'clock
〇〇じにおきます
.... ji ni okimasu

​I eat at ..... o'clock
〇〇じにたべます
.... ji ni tabemasu

​Note: add japanese number in the 〇〇 or .....

Grammar Pattern:

​わたしは OOじに OO
watashi wa .... ji ni ....

Explanation:
(Number) ji ni + (activity you do/will do)

​(I) go to school at 8 o'clock
