Intro to the Banana Industry
The business of producing and selling bananas is complex. There are
many steps to getting a banana from the tree to your lunch. Today, most
bananas are grown on very large plantations. Many of these plantations
are located in countries with tropical climates, like Brazil or India. When
ready, they are cut down by workers with a long knife called a machete.
It takes a lot of teamwork to harvest bananas. They are then transported
to a warehouse to be washed, sorted, and then packed to be loaded
