Patterns in a graph
We are graphing the results of an experiment because it is easier to observe trends and analyse the relationships between the variables.

Trend
Is the DV increasing when IV increases?
Yes-> Positive. No -> Negative
The trend is when you observe the general direction of the graph.

Relationship
The relationship between your variable is the correlation. You are trying to find a mathematical formula that could connect the IV and DV
In this example, it is a linear relationship because the more I buy chocolate bars the more I will pay in the proportion.
If I buy 2 bars, I pay 4 $
If I buy 4 bars, I pay 8 $
The price increases gradually, the slope of the graph represents the price of 1 bar.

Line of best fit or trend line
When you observe a possible linear relationship, you can insert a line of best fit to your graph.
This will help you comment on how strong the relationship is.
