Sustantivos

To pluralize nouns in Spanish, add s to nouns that end in a vowel or es to nouns that end in a consonant.
libro (book) -> libros (books)
marcador (marker) -> marcadores (markers)
For nouns that end in z, you must change the z to c before adding es.
lápiz (pencil) -> lápices (pencils)

When pluralizing a noun in Spanish, you must also pluralize the article.

Definite Articles

Remember that "el" and "la" both mean “the.”  "El" comes before masculine nouns and "la" comes before feminine nouns.  When a noun is plural, you must use the plural form of the article.

For masculine nouns el -> los

For feminine nouns la -> las
"Los" and "las" also translate to "the"

Indefinite Articles

"un" and "una" are the masculine and feminine indefinite articles. They translate to "a" or "an."

When followed by plural nouns,
un->unos
una->unas
"unos" and "unas" translate to "some"

Indefinite Articles

Definite and indefinite articles follow a parallel pattern for masculine, feminine, singular, and plural. Use definite articles when talking about specific nouns and indefinite articles when talking about general nouns.
