The formula for the past perfect tense is:
had + [past participle].

It doesn’t matter if the subject is singular or plural; the formula doesn’t change.

• Before I knew it, she had run out the door.

• After Sofie had finished her work, she went to lunch.

• After she had moved out, I found her notes.

• The bus had just left when I got to the bus stop.

• By the time I finished work, all my colleagues had already gone home for the day.
