All the forms!

Rain

Hail

5

media

Rain

- moisture condensed from the
atmosphere that falls visibly in
separate drops.

6

media

Snow

- atmospheric water vapor
frozen into ice crystals and
falling in light white flakes or
lying on the ground as a white
layer.

Hypothesis

12

media
media

Mountains can
affect weather.

13

media

I think mountains can affect weather
because…

The air itself overcomes the mountaintop
easily, but the clouds get “heavier” (more
“soaked” with water) while getting higher
and mostly do not overcome the
mountaintop. So the rain stays mainly on
the windward side of the ridge, whereas
the leeward side is in so called
“precipitation shadow”.

Variables that may affect the
outcome...

Temperature

Humidity (the amount of water in the
air)

structures like
mountains and
valleys can
affect where
precipitation
falls.
