WHO AM I?

● I was born in 1913

● My grandparents were slaves
● I was arrested for not giving my

seat to a white man on a bus.

WHO AM I?

●

I was known as one of the top African

American performs of all times as an actress

and singer.

●

As an actress, I refused to play roles that

stereotyped Black women.

●

As an actress I played in a few known movies

such as “Cabin in the Sky” (1943), “Stormy

Weather” (1943), and “The Wiz” (1978).

●

I performed at rallies around the country on
behalf of the NAACP and the National Council

for Negro Women.

●

I also participated in the 1963 March on

Washington, D.C.

●I was born on February 21, 1940, and I died on July 17,
2020.

● I was known to get into “Good Trouble.”

●I was an advocate for nonviolence for most of my life.

●I was chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee (SNCC)

●I was a Freedom Rider, and I was badly beaten on a
peaceful march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 that
was later known as “Bloody Sunday”.

●I played a key role in organizing the 1963 March on
Washington.

●I served in the United States House of Representatives
from 1987 to 2020

●I was born, March 1822 into slavery in Dorchester
County, Maryland,and died March 10, 1913.

●I was an American abolitionist and social activist.

●During the Civil War I worked for the Union Army,
first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed
scout and spy.

●In 1849, I escaped to Philadelphia, only to return to
Maryland to rescue my family soon after.

●After escaping slavery,I made some 13 missions to
rescue about 70 enslaved people, including my
family and friends

●I was born in Dallas, Texas on May 13, 1945.

●I was married to my former husband, Eldridge
from 1967 to 1987.

I was the first woman to be appointed to the
Black Panther Party Central Committee as
communications secretary from 1967 to 1971.

●I have written over 15 books.

●
I received my law degree from Yale University,
and I currently teach law at Emory University.

WHO AM I?

● I was born January 31, 1919.

● On April 15, 1947, I became the first Black

player to play in modern Major League
Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

● I was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame

in 1962.

● ·The MLB retired my number on April 15,

1997, and in my honor all the coaches and
players wear my number on that day each

year.
