Wave - any disturbance that
transfers energy from place to place

Medium - matter the wave travels through (air, water)

Mechanical wave - moves through a type of matter.

Electromagnetic wave - can move without matter.

Vacuum - a space without matter.

Transverse Wave -perpendicular to the source.

Mechanical wave - vibrates the
medium (moves stuff)

E.M. waves - does NOT move
stuff

Longitudinal Wave - moves in the same direction as the vibration.

Rarefaction - where the longitudinal wave stretches.
Compression - where the longitudinal wave shrinks

Surface Wave - combination of transverse and longitudinal waves.

-A particle on the wave tend to travel in a circular
motion.
