Methods of Vegetative Propagation

The leaf supports development of tiny shoot buds. These begins to form roots at their base. Then fall to the ground and take root.

​Leaves

These form from underground stems. It has buds called "eyes". Each bud can develop into a new plant.

​Stem Tubers

These form when sections of the root swells and bud.

​Root Tubers

These have buds between the leaves. The buds can grow into new stems, leaves and flowers.

​Bulbs

A sucker is a branch ( underground stem) of a parent plant. These can be cut from the parent and grown.

​Suckers

Some plants have stems that grow along the ground.

​

​Runners

This is a short swollen underground stem that serves as a storage organ of some plants to survive severe weather conditions.
