All of the previous questions are examples of conditional sentences

- Type 0

If you become the school's principal in the future, what new rule(s) will you implement?
- Type 1

If you woke up with your house on fire, what would be the first item/thing you would save?
- Type 2

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, real or fictional, who would you choose to meet?
- Type 2

Let's have a recap on how it all works

7

Type 0 - Always True

Describing what always happen in certain situations

E.g. If you take away the tires of a car, it can't work properly anymore.

media

(present tense)

(present tense)

8

Open Ended

Come up with a type 0 conditional sentence.

Think of a fact and a result that comes from it.

9

E.g. If I learn to talk to people properly, then social situations will not be as awkward when I'm in them.

(Explanation: social situations are awkward when I'm in them, but I CAN learn to be more sociable)

Type 1 - Real Situations

Describing what might possibly happen
as a result of a real situation

media

("will" in main clause)

(present tense in if-clause)

10

Type 1 - Real Situations

Using modal verbs (e.g. can, might etc.) also works

E.g. If we don't make good use of our youth,
we might end up sad and angry as adults.

11

Open Ended

Come up with a type 1 conditional sentence.

Think of a real situation and the possible result of that situation.

12

Type 2 - Unreal Situations

Describing what would happen
as a result of a situation that cannot be real

E.g. If all teachers used memes in class,
lessons would probably be more enjoyable. (It's impossible)

media

("would" in main clause)

(past tense in if-clause)

13

Open Ended

Come up with a type 2 conditional sentence.

Think of an impossible situation and the possible result of that situation (which would still be impossible since the entire situation cannot be real).
