The indigenous population had been facing exploitation and the devastating impact of epidemic diseases introduced by the Spanish, marking a critical turning point in Peru's history. Throughout the 1820s, Bolivar's military campaigns and the Battle of Ayacucho in 1824 ultimately secured Peru's liberation, shaping the nation's destiny after a prolonged struggle.
