Contractions in Spanish

There are only 2 contractions in Spanish and they are very simple and easy to understand. We use them when we are combining 2 specific words. In this example instead of saying "de el" we say "del". Del can mean "from the" or "of the".

"Al" is the combination of A and el. Al can mean "to the" and "at the".

Telling Time
To tell time in Spanish is easy. You will however need to know numbers well. Make sure you know the numbers 1-60 and you are comfortable with them.

¿Qué hora es? – What time is it?
de la mañana - in the morning
de la tarde - in the afternoon
de la noche – in the night.
mediodia - midday
madrugada - early morning
medianoche - midnight
amanecer - dawn/sunrise
A las seis - at six
a la una - at one
a las tres - at three
