70% of our electricity is produced by burning coal and other fossil fuels, which release greenhouse gases and are linked to global warming.

The earth has plenty of water to support everyone's demands.

99% of earth's water is saline, frozen, or buried underground. Even the remaining 1% isn't readily available as freshwater and often needs to be treated, which can be expensive.

Water

The main sources of freshwater, such as springs and wells, aren't always accessible to urban areas where people need it. Much of our fresh water has been polluted or wasted, and adequate rainfall is not distributed evenly throughout the world.

The destruction of tropical rain forests will cause earth's atmosphere to run out of oxygen.

Oxygen makes up almost 21% of the atmosphere.
Burning all the tropical forests in the world would decrease the proportion of oxygen by four-hundredths of 1%.
But it would increase the concentration of carbon dioxide by 26%.

Most oil pollution comes from tankers that run aground or ships that empty their oil at sea.

More than twice as much oil pollutes the environment each year from cars. Changing engine oil dumps over 200 million gallons of oil in landfills.
