Layers of the Earth

Compositional- What the Earth in made of

The Earth is composed of three main layers: the crust, mantle, and core. The crust is the outermost layer, similar to an eggshell. The mantle is the middle layer similar to the Egg white, and the core is the innermost layer. and similar to the Egg yolk.

Mechanical: Describes how the layers behave and their functions.


Lithosphere: Consists of the crust and uppermost part of the mantle.

Asthenosphere- melted, moldable, flows slowly Allows for the movement of plates above ( Like mud )

Mesosphere- middle Strong lower part of the mantle (Meso = middle)
