When adding multi-digit numbers, follow these steps:
1. Write the numbers with the place values lined up.
2. Add the digits in the ones place. Regroup, if needed.
3. Add the digits in the tens place. Regroup, if needed.
4. Keep going until you have added all of the place values. Continue to move to the next largest place and regroup as needed.
Adding two-digit numbers without regrouping
Now, add the digits in the ones place.
Then, add the digits in the tens place.
So, 23+45=68!

Adding two-digit numbers with regrouping
Sometimes, you will need to regroup. Let's try it with 15+37!
First, write the numbers with the place values lined up.
Now, add the digits in the ones place. Since 5+7=12, you need to regroup. Regroup 12 ones as 1 ten and 2 ones. Write 1 in the tens column and 2 in the ones column, below.
Then, add the digits in the tens place. Don't forget to add the regrouped ten!
So, 15+37=52!

Adding larger numbers
Follow the same steps to add larger numbers. Let's try it with 252+356.
First, write the numbers with the place values lined up.
Now, add the digits in the ones place.
Then, add the digits in the tens place. Since 5+5=10, you need to regroup. Regroup 10 tens as 1 hundred and 0 tens. Write 1 in the hundreds column and 0 in the tens column, below.
Last, add the digits in the hundreds place. Don't forget to add the regrouped hundred!
So, 252+356=608!

Let's try it with even bigger numbers! Add 10,374+24,832.
First, write the numbers with the place values lined up.
Now, add the digits in the ones place.
Then, add the digits in the tens place. You will need to regroup!
Next, add the digits in the hundreds place. Don't forget to add the regrouped hundred. You will need to regroup again!

Now, add the digits in the thousands place. Don't forget to add the regrouped thousand!
Last, add the digits in the ten-thousands place.
So, 10,374+24,832=35,206!
