Examples of pulling forces include a person pulling a door or a magnet pulling a metal object. Forces are all around us and play a crucial role in our everyday lives.

Forces and Gravity

Gravity is a pulling force exerted by the Earth. It pulls objects towards the center of the Earth. In the picture, gravity is pulling the skydivers towards the Earth. However, there is another force called air resistance that is pushing in the opposite direction, slowing the skydivers down. Air resistance is the name given to the force that opposes the motion of objects through the air.
