INTRODUCTION

• Begin by asking students what emotions they are familiar with.

• Discuss different ways that people express their emotions, such as through facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice.

• Explain that the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 brick can also be used to express emotions.

2. Exploration

• Have students work in pairs or small groups to build a LEGO® model that can show different moods.

• Encourage students to be creative and to use their imagination.

• Once students have built their models, have them experiment with different ways to show different moods using the EV3 brick.

• For example, students could use the EV3 brick to make their model smile, frown, or cry. They could also use the EV3 brick to make their model play different sounds or to light up different colors.

3. Challenge

• Challenge students to create a program that shows different moods in response to different inputs.

• For example, students could program their model to smile when it sees a happy face, or to frown when it hears a sad sound.

• Students could also use sensors to program their model to respond to different environmental conditions.

• For example, students could program their model to shiver when it is cold, or to sweat when it is hot.
