Present-tense verbs:  We have seen this all before--if you can do one verb, you can do just about any verb.  But here are the 3 major patterns in Spanish.

Formal Commands:  

When you want to tell someone what to do, use a command.  In Spanish there are formal and informal commands.  (In Spanish 2 we will touch on informal commands.)  To form a formal command (fancy grammar term: Imperative), take the yo-form of the verb, remove the -o and add -e/-en to -ar verbs; add -a/-an to -er/-ir verbs.
