Decomposers

​Another important niche in the environment is that of the DECOMPOSER!

Decomposers break down wastes and dead organisms TO RECYCLE NUTRIENTS.

Examples of decomposers include: bacteria, mushrooms and other fungi!

The OWL can be a secondary consumer
OR tertiary consumer depending on the
food chain followed in the web.


Grass --> Mouse --> Owl

​Producer --> Primary Consumer --> Secondary Consumer

Grass --> Grasshopper --> Frog --> Owl
Producer --> Primary Consumer --> Secondary Consumer --> Tertiary Consumer

Organisms may fill more than one role!
