Other Forms of Energy
2
Energy an object has due to its motion, shape, and position.
Mechanical = Kinetic + Potential
Mechanical Energy
3
A type of potential energy that results from the position of the particles within a mineral. These particles are held together by chemical bonds.
When the chemical bonds are broken, energy is released.
Chemical Energy
4
The energy of electric charges. The difference in these charges creates an energy called electricity.
Electrical Energy
A form of kinetic energy that travels through space in waves. It does not need a medium to travel through.
Examples: X-rays, microwaves, UV waves, radio waves.
Electromagnetic Radiation
5
Fusion: nuclei merge together - Stars
Fission: nuclei split into smaller parts - Energy/ Bombs
