​A proper noun names a particular person, place, thing, or idea and should be capitalized. Follow these rules when capitalizing proper nouns:

1- Capitalize the names of clubs, organizations, businesses, institutions, and political parties.
Example: It was the opening of the world series and I was for the first time playing in a series as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers team.

2- Capitalize brand names.
Example: Arnie looked at the Kleenex.

3- Capitalize the names of important historical events and periods of time.
Example: “In addition to coming from a landlord family, your father committed some serious mistakes during the Antirightist Movement several years ago, but he still obstinately refuses to confess.”

4- Capitalize the names of days of the weeks, months of the year, and holidays.
Example: She must have been paying attention in her civics classes, for she insisted on applying the lessons she had learned after boarding a city bus on March 2, 1955.

5- Do not capitalize the names of the seasons.
Example: "He was only with me for one summer, Percy."

6- Capitalize the names of ethnic groups, nationalities, and languages.
Example: Now the moment we have all been waiting for—the main event between two fine young Puerto Rican fighters, products of our lower east side.

7- Capitalize the first word, the last word, and all important words in titles.
Example: Feng and his three assistants moved operations to an Oakland hayfield, referred to by the New York Times and the Washington Post as “a hidden retreat.”
