What is Khulafaur Rasyidin?

Khulafaur Rasyidin comes from two words; Khulafa and Ar-Rashidin. Khulafa is the plural of khalifah (the caliph), wich means “substitute.” Whereas Ar-Rashidin means get a hint (hidayah).

Khulafaur Rasyidin is a leader who replaces the leadership of the Prophet Muhammad as head of state, head of government and leader of the people. As for his prophetic duties, he cannot be replaced.

His real name was Abdul Ka’bah. Then Prophet Muhammad changed it to Abdullah bin Abi Quhafah at-Tamimi. He was born to the couple Usman (Abu Quhafah), son of Amir and Ummu Khair Salma bint Sakhr from the Taim tribe.

Since he was young, he was known for his gentleness, honesty, and patience. He was known by the nickname "Abu Bakr," and "As-Siddiq.” Abu means father of, and Bakr means immediately. That is, he is a person who hastens to do good. "As-Shiddiq" was a title his companions gave him, for he trusted and justified the Messenger of Allah, In everything.

First Male to Convert to Islam

Abu Bakr was the first adult male to convert to Islam. He believes in the Isrā Mi'raj event when people returned to apostasy because they did not believe in the Isra and Mi'raj of the Prophet. He was a close friend of the Prophet, and he was the first caliph in Islam.

First Caliph in Islam

Abu Bakr was appointed caliphate by consultation between the Anshar people and the Muhajirin in the Saqifah Bani Sa’idah (meeting place in Medina). During his leadership, the caliphate of Abu Bakr achieved extraordinary achievements, one of them is collecting the Qur'an in one musḥaf.

His death

Caliph Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddiq died Monday night, the 22nd Jumadil Akhir year 13 H, at the age of 63 years. Abu Bakr was caliph for 2 years. He suffered from fever for 15 days.
