Expectation vs. Reality

We will build on whatever Spanish I foundation we have! Our goal is to expand upon what we already know so we graduate from "kindergarten" Spanish to "middle school" Spanish!

Spanish II:

Our goal is to get some of the basics of Spanish down by the end of the semester. You may only know "Hola" now but by the end of the semester, you will know so much more!

Spanish I:

What we're about:

This is a skills based class!

That means:

We will be practicing our skills! Those include:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Writing
- Reading
*The more you practice the skills, the better you will be!

To practice these skills, we will:

• Listen

  • Listening to various people speak the target language let's us train our ears to understand it better!

• Speak

  • We will practice with partners, groups and presentations!

• Read

  • Aloud and independently!

• Write

  • Using our vocabulary and grammar we have learned

No Stress

This class is to build your confidence in Spanish, no matter what level you are at. In fact, the more mistakes you make, the more you will learn so effort is key to success in this class!
We also have time for 1-1 during some Huddle days and before school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! (let me know beforehand if you're coming)

We will go left to the teacher parking lot and stand far away in a grassy area. WE WILL STAY TOGETHER OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.

Fire

We will go to the right at the end of the hall to the benches (before the bathrooms) where there is no glass. We will move the benches and hunker down, heads covered at the walls.

Tornado:

ICE: In case of emergency

We will hide under the tables until several minutes after tremors to make sure we are clear of falling debris and aftershocks

Earthquake

We will turn our phones completely to silent, move bookcase in front of the door (if possible) and go to the corner of the room without desks or windows

A bit about me

I'm Señora S!

This is my 6th year of teaching! I have taught at 3 different high schools and have taught Spanish I, II, III honors and IB. I am not a native speaker! The only thing I want to do in my spare time is hang out with my dog so if you want me to come to your game or production, you MUST let me know in advance!

His name is AJ and he'll be 15 in October.
