​Actions happening now - Connie is teaching her C1 class right now.

Actions happening around now - What book are you reading in English at the moment?

Temporary stuations - I´m living in Valencia at the moment.

Changing and developing situations - More and more people are beginning to realize the importance of learning languages.

Annoying habits - Why are you always shouting when speaking on your mobile!

For future arrangments - I´m playing tennis at 6 o´clock with Susan.

​Present perfect

• ​Situations and states that start in the past but are still true - I´ve been a member of the dive club for over 10 years.

• A series of actions continuing up to now - She´s written three novels so far this year.

• Past experiences, when the when is not important - They´ve been to France twice.

• Recently completed actions - I´ve just received the invitaion.

• The future (in time clauses) - Tell me when you´ve finished the report

​Present perfect continuous

• ​Actions and situations that have started in the past but continue up until now or just before now - Why are you covered in paint? Because I´ve been painting the livingroom ceiling!

• The future (in time clauses) - I won´t take my driving test until I´ve been having lessons for at least 2 months.

​Stative and non stative verbs

​When certain verbs are used to describe states, they are generally used in simple tenses rather than continuous tenses.

eg. I agree with you NOT I am agreeing with you.

Peter Pan believes in faries NOT Peter Pan is believing in faries.

I need a new pair of trainers NOT I´m needing a new pair of trainers.
