Pressure Philosophy
●Our Pressure package gives us the ability to push 5 defenders and
play match-up zone behind it.
●Playing match-up zone with pressure eliminates an explosive play
while giving the 6 coverage players the ability to break on the ball.
●This will allows us yet another way to create an 8 man box vs. the
run to disrupt running lanes.
●The majority of our zone pressure package will be traditional 3 deep
3 underneath coverage (Cov. 9).
●As a change-up, we will also run a 2 deep 4 underneath coverage
(Cov. 8).

Pressure Philosophy
●Cover 9: our base 3 deep 3 under Fire Zone Coverage. We will
have a 2 curl, a 3 hook, and a 2 curl player in our 3 underneath
zones. Our deep 3 defenders will each play a fire zone 1/3.
○Their thought process allows them to be more aggressive in a fire zone1/3 vs.
Cover 3.
●Cover 8: a 2 Deep 4 Underneath Fire Zone Coverage. The
Linebackers and the Secondary utilize the same rules as Seam.

Pressure Philosophy
In order for our pressures to be successful:
A. The pressure players must expect to be blocked and have the demeanor to
win one on one match-ups. Rarely in a zone pressure, will the offense turn a defender
loose, but we expect you to get home.
B. The low zone defenders need to work with depth as they match #2 or #3
through their zone.
C. The high zone defenders must challenge routes, knowing that the pressure
will force the ball to be thrown quickly (SeePoint A). We must eliminate explosive
plays (run or pass).
Our pressure package will allow us to bring the same pressures, whether it's inside or
outside, from a 4 down look (MOB, SWARM, & BEAST), or a 3 down look (OKIE &
MONSTER). This will create confusion for our opponent's protection schemes and QB
reads.

Pressure Rules
2 Curl Defender
The defender who aligns with inside leverage on #2 will read the routes based
on the WR's release:
A. If #2 runs vertical, re-route #2 outside and sink to 10-12 yards.
B. If #2 runs vertical and #3 runs out, the old #3 is your new #2 expand
with depth and width through the curl to the flat.
C. If #2 disappears inside, squeeze #2 in your area and look for a new #2
working inside out.
D. If #2 runs an outside route, expand with depth and width through the
curl. If #2 continues to wheel, match the wheel.
E. If run, leverage the ball and keep everything inside.

Pressure Rules
3 Hook Defender
The defender is responsible for matching 3 as the routes disperse in
the hook.
A. If #3 runs vertical, re-route #3 outside and sink to 10-12 yards.
B. If #3 runs vertical and #2 runs in, the old #2 becomes your
new #3 so match in your hook.
C. If #3 runs out, expand with depth and width through the hook
looking for a new #3 to come from outside in.
D. If run, the 3 hook player is a fast flow, spill defender.

Pressure Rules
Fire Zone 1/3
Technique used by CB in which his alignment will be determined
by formation and WR splits. In general, 1x7 O/S WR.
At the snap of the ball, Fire Zone 1/3 player will pedal slow to fast
maintaining his leverage (Think an aggressive 3 Technique).
EXPECT BALL TO COME OUT FAST!!
