Self-Control

Self-Control is the ability to inhibit (prevent) impulses. Impulses are when you act without thinking - this applies to working on our emotions and physical motivations. (We can’t just punch everyone in the face who frustrates us.) Self-Control means you stop, think, then act.

You cannot have self-control without self-regulation, so it is important to have coping or calm-down strategies. Self-Control is a small part of Self-Regulation, but both are important!
