The Solar System consist of the Sun and everything that orbits, or travels around, the Sun. This includes the eight planets and their moons, dwarf planets,and countless asteroids, comets, and other small, icy objects.

The inner Planets also known as the terrestrial planets are: mercury, Venus , Earth and Mars.

The outer planets are the four planets that are farthest from the Sun in our solar system.  They are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are also called the gas giants or ice giants because the have thick atmospheres and no solid surface.
